FORMER 67`S SHINE IN ALL-STAR GAME
|
Three former Ottawa 67’s continued to impress this weekend as the annual AHL All-Star game took place in Worcester, MA. Former captain Corey Locke (01-04), Mark Mancari (01-05) and Derek Joslin (04-07) were all members of the Team Canada All-Stars as they took on the Planet USA All Stars.
Locke who plays for the Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild affiliate) set an AHL All-Star game record with a with a 4 goal performance. Success on the ice is no stranger to Locke who twice won the OHL scoring crown while wearing the barber pole jersey, he currently leads the Aeros in points as well.
The game was an impressive offensive display as the Planet USA All-Stars outscored their Canadian counterparts 14-11. Power forward Mark Mancari, who suits up for the Portland Pirates (Buffalo Sabres affiliate) contributed a goal and an assist. Mancari is enjoying a banner season to date, leading his team in scoring with 18 goals and 42 point in 38 games.
The best news of the day however may have been saved for former 67’s blueliner Derek Joslin. Although Joslin didn’t figure offensively on the scoresheet he was called up to the NHL’s San Jose Sharks immediately after the game. Joslin is putting together a fine season playing for the Worcester Sharks contributing 20 points in 32 games, he has also appeared in 8 games with San Jose. Worcester is becoming a second home to many former 67’s including Jamie McGinn, Brad Staubitz and Lukas Kaspar. The Sharks also hold the rights to current 67’s Logan Couture and Julian Demers.
